Inclusive Spaces is Frasers Property’s key community investment initiative aimed at building more inclusive communities via a design conversation around real estate spaces that allow for better physical, functional and social inclusion.
The inaugural Inclusive Spaces is planned to be an annual innovation challenge which focuses on a different theme and community group each year. This year’s hackathon focuses on active seniors in Singapore and rides on the success of the inaugural edition of Inclusive Spaces in 2019 which saw students and people with disabilities collaborating to create a more inclusive shopping experience.
Set against the backdrop of a rapidly ageing population, this year’s Inclusive Spaces aims to generate ideas and solutions that facilitate intergenerational bonding.
With National University of Singapore students and ambassador for Society for the Physically Disabled joining hands, the winning solution by team ENpower utilised a creative and barrier-free furniture set in an open space concept that allows mall patrons with disabilities to pre-book a table digitally and for mall tenants to extend their holding capacity during peak hours in a comfortable and inclusive manner.
