Making every step count at Frasers Tower Vertical Challenge 2026

Singapore Community Purpose & Culture

On 20 August 2026, more than 550 participants took part in the fifth edition of the Frasers Tower Vertical Challenge, coming together to scale 39 floors for a good cause.

The event saw the largest number of registrations since the challenge was introduced in 2022, with participation growing by 150% since its inaugural edition. Participants of different ages and abilities came together to take on the challenge, turning the workplace into a space for community and giving.

Over 550 participants, including 60 persons with disabilities, took part in the Frasers Tower Vertical Challenge to raise funds for the Goh Chok Tong Enable Fund, with S$10 donated to the fund for each participant.

Among the returning participants was Mr Tan Whee Boon, a quadruple amputee and an SG Enable Inclusive Champion (iChamp). Mr Tan is part of the 10-person SG Enable iChamp relay team that scaled Frasers Tower. He hopes that his participation in the challenge will inspire other amputees to trust in their abilities, just as he did when he decided to make the climb.

Reflecting on the Frasers Tower Vertical Challenge, he said, “I am extremely grateful towards Frasers Property Singapore for its efforts towards inclusion and for this opportunity. Our situation is not ideal, but if we have the appropriate tools and time, we will be able to accomplish our mission. We can do it — if you give us opportunities, we can do it.”

Echoing Mr Tan’s sentiment, Mr Tee Wee Leong Steve, Singapore Paralympian and first-time Frasers Tower Vertical Challenge participant, said, “I hope to encourage others to step out of their comfort zones, so they can try things that they’ve never done before. Difficulties must be tackled one step at a time.” Mr Tee who lost his sight to retinitis pigmentosa, took just 12 minutes and 9 seconds to complete the challenge. He relied on the braille on the handrails to track his progress up the building.

Mr Steven Chek, senior retiree and committee member of the Towerrunning Association of Singapore, said, “Having started my fitness journey after retirement, I know how important maintaining an active lifestyle is to our quality of life. The Frasers Tower Vertical Challenge encourages people from different backgrounds to keep fit while working towards a more inclusive society.” This year is Mr Chek’s third time taking part in the vertical challenge. Starting his fitness journey after retiring at the age of 60, he found tower running to be suitable for people of all fitness levels and ages as it helps build endurance and is a low impact form of exercise.

Amplifying impact though Every Step Forward

The Frasers Tower Vertical Challenge represented the finale of a month-long community event — Every Step Forward, where employees, tenants, shoppers and residents walked, ran and cycled to raise funds for Home Nursing Foundation and the Goh Chok Tong Enable Fund (GCTEF) via Community Chest.

Frasers Property donated S$2 to Community Chest for each kilometre clocked under Every Step Forward, while S$10 was donated to the GCTEF for each sign-up for the Frasers Tower Vertical Challenge, amplifying the impact of each participant’s stride towards a better future.

In total, the campaign raised a total of S$214,160, which would also be used to fund programmes that enhance the quality of life for seniors and persons with disabilities, through the work of Home Nursing Foundation and GCTEF.

Ms Soon Su Lin, Chief Executive Officer, Frasers Property Singapore, presented a cheque for over S$214,000 to Ms Pearlyn Tseng, Director, Philanthropic Partnerships, Community Chest Singapore, with Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Social and Family Development Eric Chua as witness at the Frasers Tower Vertical Challenge 2026.

Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Law & Ministry of Social and Family Development, said, “I was actually heartened and inspired by everyone who showed up today, especially those who kept pressing on. What stayed with me most was the spirit of the people, helping each other and cheering each other along.”

Beyond the workplace, the campaign also came to life through neighbourhood activities such as the Discover Bedok Gems walk at SkyEden@Bedok and the Skechers x Swensen's Ice Cream Run at Waterway Point, encouraging residents and shoppers to get moving while exploring their communities.

Creating value for our communities

Every Step Forward is just one example of how Frasers Property Singapore brings together its communities for collective action and social good. Creating value for communities also means thinking about the everyday experience of the people who use our retail, commercial and residential spaces, and ensuring they can take part in them comfortably and confidently.

This echoes an independent study conducted by Frasers Property and Singapore Management University’s Centre for Research on Successful Ageing, which found that over 60% of older adults visit a mall at least once a week, highlighting their importance as places for social connection. This affirms the ongoing initiatives that we have such as our partnership with CIMB Singapore and Lions Befrienders which includes our Silver Social Spaces activity where older adults can enjoy guided activities and volunteer-supported sessions.

Welcoming multigenerational spaces that make everyday visits easy and connected, including partnerships with Active Ageing Centres on senior-led activities like crochet workshops.

At a Dementia Go-To Point, trained FPS Service Ambassadors and participating tenants offer accessible support to individuals with dementia, sensory sensitivities, and other special needs.

Beyond the physical infrastructure such as wheelchair-accessible lifts and ramps, Frasers Property Singapore has created industry-first initiatives such as our Inclusion Champions programme. Supported by inclusion training by SG Enable, Dementia Singapore and St Andrew's Autism Centre, our tenants and Service Ambassadors are equipped to support shoppers across all walks of life, from people with dementia to those with sensory needs.

Our efforts did not go unnoticed. In 2025, Frasers Property Singapore was accorded as a Don Norman Design Award winner, being the only real estate company to be celebrated for its excellence in “Humanity-Centred Design”. The accolade recognised our commitment to inclusivity and the role of our malls as accessible hubs for seniors and persons with disabilities.

Envisioning greener possibilities

Creating places for good also means considering their environmental impact. Besides ensuring that our properties are inclusive and accessible, we continue to improve how they are designed, built and operated to reduce their environmental footprint.

All our owned and managed properties are BCA Green Mark-certified. Our most recent launches, The Orie and Dunearn House, attained a BCA Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy standard, incorporating features that improve energy efficiency and promote eco-friendly living.

Earlier this year, we were awarded the SGBC-BCA Leadership in Sustainability Award in the Impact sub-category, which celebrated our efforts to promote sustainability in the built environment sector.

In line with these principles, Frasers Property Singapore also launched its Green-Coded – Live the Sustainable Life campaign across its malls in 2026, introducing youths to ways they could incorporate eco-friendly habits in their life for a more sustainable society.

Together for a better future

At Frasers Property, we believe in inspiring experiences and creating places for good. Every property presents an opportunity to do more with the spaces we create, whether by bringing communities together, making everyday places more inclusive, encouraging people to lead active lives, or reducing our impact on the environment.

By thinking about not only what our spaces are, but what they can enable, we can create spaces that contribute positively to the people and communities around them.
