Hear from Hwee Cheng, Naree and Emma reflections on their respective tenures with Frasers Property.
In what ways has Frasers Property changed since you first joined?
Hwee Cheng: Back in the 90s, Frasers Property was just a local real estate company focusing on retail, commercial, residential and hospitality. Frasers Property has grown by leaps and bounds over the years, expanding its global footprint and venturing into the industrial and logistics sector. Although the Group has made significant growth and progress, the values that built the company in the early days remain true today. In fact, they are further strengthened by the current management!
Naree: When I first joined, I worked with the founders of Goldenland Property Development which adopted a family-owned business model. Then came several restructuring plans – from a foreign investment that gave us a foothold in the international market, to an acquisition move on KLAND by Univentures Public Company Limited (UV) which was later renamed Frasers Property Thailand. These changes have no doubt shaped the way Frasers Property operates today, as well as its company culture.
Emma: Since first joining, Frasers Property has changed remarkably! The projects we deliver in recent times have become larger in scale and more complex, bringing new life and vibrancy to the region. The communities we create have also become more diverse and connected – in due credit to our dedicated teams on the ground that create genuine pathways to build a social and sustainable community for our residents.
Technology now plays a huge role in marketing homes and engaging with customers. We have a mobile application, MyFrasersProperty, that brings us closer to customers and our sales centres are largely digitalised to provide immersive and experiential tactile experiences.
Do you have a favourite memory at Frasers Property that represents our culture?
Hwee Cheng: 25 years is a long time and there have been many lovely memories over the years. The most memorable one recently would be the Dinner & Dance in 2019 that happened right before the pandemic struck, where the entire retail business unit, from colleagues in the headquarter to the Centre Management team in the malls, co-ordinated and dressed up in the same outfit to the theme of the movie “Grease”. It highlighted the remarkable teamwork, collaboration, and strong bond that we share in retail.
I am also glad that Frasers Property has embarked on Frasers Community Month. It is a meaningful initiative that gives us purpose and allows us to give back to the community. I hope we will continue this initiative and expand our efforts to create a more significant impact in the communities where we operate.
Naree: My greatest takeaway from Frasers Property is meeting good people – executives, colleagues or partners who support one another regardless of circumstance. I also appreciate the company’s policies that help us achieve our goals together. In the course of my work, I can easily see people’s commitment to effective communication, a culture of caring for one another, and a common desire to continuously learn and improve on our work.
Emma: What I love most about working at Frasers Property is our collaborative spirit. The launch of Ed.Square and the opening of the Town Centre is a perfect example – the final outcome was a result of how we work collaboratively as a business, from design, development, retail, sales and marketing to care and community development teams. Today, the community continues to grow and flourish and it’s something I’m absolutely proud of.

Any words of advice to new or younger colleagues?
Hwee Cheng: Take ownership and excel in whatever role that you have been entrusted with. Be committed to learning and keep expanding your skills and knowledge. Enjoy the ride and celebrate every accomplishment, big or small.
Naree: See every change as a window of opportunity. Don’t let opportunities slip away without taking advantage of them to learn new things and improve yourself. Having a solid network of friends and colleagues whom you can rely on will also take you far both in life and at work. These factors are critical to cultivating a successful career.
Emma: Follow your passion and see what drives you. If you are interested in something, whether it’s a project or an initiative, lean into it and let your supervisors and colleagues know what your interests are. Who knows, they can help open doors for you or steer you in a direction to open new pathways. Also, be curious and keep learning! The world evolves and so do we -- we have to embrace change.
