Frasers Property UK the integrated developer, investor, and asset manager, has been awarded a 4-star GRESB rating for its portfolio of business parks and corporate governance. This puts the business first in its peer group of diversified office and industrial space owned by a private business in the UK
GRESB is the global Environmental, Social and Governance benchmark for real estate assets. This year’s accreditation exercise awarded Frasers Property UK a score of 85, exceeding the GRESB average of 73. The company was also recognised for outstanding leadership in sustainability, evidenced by an increase in 2 stars, from a 2-star rating achieved in 2020.
Amira Hashemi, Sustainability Manager at Frasers Property UK, commented:
“We’ve worked hard to not just optimise our business park portfolio, but also the way we structure our corporate operations. We’ve integrated sustainability into our risk management and improved our reporting. We’ve also certified over 1.6 million sq ft of space with BREEAM In Use certifications and technical assessments, whilst also conducting occupier satisfaction surveys and actioning the feedback received. A 4-star GRESB rating is fantastic recognition of our efforts to integrate and deliver sustainability improvements across the business park portfolio.”
Jeremy Metcalfe, Partner at Hollis Hockley, commented:
“ESG has rapidly moved up the agenda for both occupiers and landlords. There is a lot of noise around the subject, and it is fantastic to have a client who not only has ESG and wellness at the core of its ethos, but has actually done something meaningful about it - which in turn improves the whole workspace experience for its customers. These accreditations show that Frasers Property UK is not only far exceeding peer average but leading the way - it is an exciting time for us to be working with the company on its Southern Portfolio.”
More than 1,500 real estate asset owners and managers participate in GRESB assessments. This year more than $6.4 trillion worth of assets under management were submitted for assessment.
The GRESB rating follows Frasers Property’s launch earlier this year of its detailed net zero carbon roadmap. The company, which holds the largest business park portfolio under single ownership in the UK, committed to achieving net zero carbon 2050, to achieve net zero carbon across operational areas of control by 2030, and to be climate resilient and establish mitigation and adaptation plans by next year.
