HO CHI MINH CITY, 18 JULY 2023
Frasers Property Vietnam is proud to announce its first LEED-certified ready-built warehouse, Eco Logistics Centre in Vietnam. Awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the certification recognises the Binh Duong province-situated development for its sustainability credentials under the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) v4 Building Design and Construction: Warehouses and Distribution Centres rating system.
Eco Logistics Centre’s design and construction phases were carried out in accordance with the LEED rating system. Owned by Chuong Duong Beverages Joint Stock Company and managed by Frasers Property Vietnam, Eco Logistics Centre sits on more than 7.5 hectares providing warehousing space to sustainability-minded tenants. Beyond a focus on sustainability, technology and design elements have also been incorporated in the ready-built warehouse to enhance occupants’ productivity, health and well-being.
Edwin Tan, Deputy CEO at Frasers Property Vietnam said: “Achieving our first LEED-certified ready-built warehouse in Vietnam not only validates our asset strategy, but contributes to the country’s advancements in sustainability. We are committed to further embedding sustainability across the lifecycle of our assets, with efforts entailing green building certification and retrofitting existing buildings to higher standards. These are important aspects in our value-creation for our partners, tenants and customers.”
Developed by USGBC, LEED is the world’s most widely used green building rating system and provides a framework for healthy, efficient, and cost-saving green buildings.
“LEED is a transformative tool that ensures a building is designed and operated to achieve high performance, improve human health and protect the environment,” said Peter Templeton, President and CEO, USGBC. “By prioritising sustainability, Eco Logistics Centre is leading the way in their industry and helping USGBC continue towards our goal of green buildings for everyone within this generation.”
Making progress to realise sustainable real estate in Vietnam
As a Group, Frasers Property is committed to be a net-zero carbon corporation by 2050, encompassing Scopes 1, 2 and 3 emissions. One of its sustainability goals focuses on green-certifying 80% of all its owned and asset-managed properties by 2024. As part of its SBTi plans, the company is progressively installing rooftop solar panels, allocating renewable energy for street lighting and introducing energy- and water-efficient building equipment renewable energy across its portfolio.
Eco Logistics Centre’s LEED certification marks Frasers Property Vietnam’s first step in progressively certifying all its owned and managed industrial facilities across the country. The company is targeting LEED certification for a total of over a million square metres of international grade industrial facilities across more than 180 hectares of industrial land in both North and South Vietnam. These commitments support the country’s growing international appeal as an industrial powerhouse and as an emerging attraction for foreign investment.
