Shoppers will be looking forward to exploring a range of new and exciting things with the programmes lined up this July and August. They will be given the opportunity to get up close and personal with wildlife, take on the Amazing Food Race, and support efforts to create a zero-waste future.
Celebrating wildlife at the Animal Fiesta
Changi City Point is bringing the farm experience to shoppers from 12 to 28 July.
On 13 & 14 July, shoppers can take photos of the American Bullfrogs and even get a feel of their interesting exterior. Children will be enthralled by the terrarium display and exhibition, as they learn about the life cycles of the frogs, going from tadpoles to fully-grown adults. This opportunity to come up close to the frogs is reserved for the first 100 shoppers each day.
Amphibious and marine animals are also joining in the fun on these two days. Learning about the local biodiversity and how people can play their roles in conservation of our marine ecosystem, is an opportunity not to be missed. Over at the Marine Animals Interaction Booth, families will get a rare encounter with fascinating and often elusive creatures such as starfishes, hermit crabs and sea urchins.
From 20 to 21 July, Changi City Point is looking to crown the ‘Best Dressed’, ‘Most Talented’ and ‘Highest Jumper’ cats and dogs in the respective contests. The winning pet of each contest will win their proud owner a $100 disposable gift card. Interested participants looking to enter these contests and get a head start on the training can simply join Changi City Point’s Facebook and Instagram page to register.
Also on 20 to 21 July, cuddly pets are being put up for adoption and prospective pet owners will also get to interact with the furry playmates before making a decision to take them in. A barking lot will also be opened at the mall so that pet owners can bring their pets down and interact with other pets. A pet expert will also be on hand to offer a consultation on animal illnesses such as obesity and joint injuries. Do not miss out; only four lucky pet owners each day will be selected to learn more about the useful daily exercises that will nurture their animals back to the pink of health.
From the domesticated variety of animals to the more free-roaming ones, shoppers may find themselves giddying up on a pony and patting their luscious, beautifully coiffed hair. By spending a minimum of $50, the first 400 Frasers Experience members can redeem one free riding pass and they will also get a chance to feed these creatures. The event is running from 27 to 28 July.
Outracing each other at food-related challenges
Waterway Point is hosting the aptly titled “The Amazing Food Race” from 15 to 21 July. Held at the Village Square on Level 1, the food-themed obstacle course will take participants through a series of challenges designed to showcase participants’ agility and wit. Stations include the incredibly competitive drive-thru zone, giant five stones and Boba pit. Participants can register by spending a minimum of $50, and they can win prizes such as ice-cream, food-related stationery, as well as shopping vouchers!
Shoppers can also get their creative juices flowing through food-themed craft workshops, decorating pieces of art on mason jars and tote bags. Participants can register with a $50 minimum spend.
Those interested in honing their creativity further can head down to Eastpoint Mall for the Bento making workshop from 3 to 4 August. Participants can enjoy food within the comforts of their homes with their very own DIY bento set. The opportunity to learn about the meticulous processes of bento making is available to the first 50 shoppers per day.
All in the spirit of friendly competition, shoppers at Eastpoint Mall must vie for the title of EP Food Challenge champion by devouring a mystery food item in the fastest time. This challenge will be no mean feat as participants will be put through the rigours of the qualifying rounds, semi-finals and a grand final before being crowned the winner. A treasure trove awaits at the end, as more than $3000 worth of attractive prizes are up for grabs!
Other food-tastic deals are in store for shoppers at Robertson Walk and Valley Point for the whole month of July. They stand a chance to be one of the five winners of dining vouchers worth $100 each from selected gourmet restaurants, with options such as Hinanta Japanese Dining, Lucca’s Trattoria, or Greenwood Fishermart.
China Square Central shoppers can also walk away with a gleaming set of stainless-steel drinking straws and brush with a minimum spend of $38 at any participating outlet. Simply scan the QR code in the Frasers Experience App on the day of purchase at the Customer Service Counter.
Go green and win
With Singapore’s push towards cultivating an eco-friendlier environment, Causeway Point is showing its support with a Go Green initiative from 15 to 31 July. Shoppers are encouraged to swop five plastic bags for a reusable shopping bag. By placing these plastic bags into a fabricated jumbo bag box, shoppers are pledging their support to reduce the amount of non-renewable resources required for the production of non-biodegradable products.
Children can also be introduced to the concept of recycling with the all-new Cardboard Playground! This unique concept uses a recyclable and compostable cardboard material to construct a fully-functioning playground. Through their enjoyment of playtime at the eco-friendly playground, children can learn about the valuable lesson of recreating new things from old materials.
Families can then head over to the Green Craft Workshops on 20 and 21 July, as they learn how to make everyday products at home and reduce consumption in the household. Shoppers can exhibit their fine craftsmanship by making things like wooden keychains and yarn baskets. Together, we can contribute to a greener future for generations to come!
