According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), the amount of food waste generated in Singapore has increased by about 40% over the past 10 years and is expected to increase with our growing population and economic activity.
One simple way of reducing food waste is by not wasting them in the first place. As part of NEA’s ongoing 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) outreach effort, NEA encourages both organisations and members of the public to donate their unsold and excess food to food distribution organisations.
If you have excess non-perishable food* that you’re thinking of throwing out - do the good thing and pass it on to those in need. You can do this via the Food Bank Singapore boxes conveniently located next to the Customer Service Counters of the following malls:
The Centrepoint, Causeway Point, Waterway Point, Northpoint City, Changi City Point, Robertson Walk (Management Office), Bedok Point, YewTee Point, Anchorpoint, Valley Point and Eastpoint Mall (Level 5, outside NTUC).
*Non-perishable food items that are unopened and unused with at least a 4-week shelf life, such as: staples, beverages, condiments, snacks, canned food and dried/preserved food. The malls of Frasers Property reserve the right to decline food items that are unsuitable for donation.
If you work at any of our commercial properties, including 51 Cuppage Road, Alexandra Point, Alexandra Technopark, China Square Central, Frasers Tower, Robertson Walk and Valley Point, you can also locate these Food Bank boxes within the building and make your donation with ease.
Together, we can make a huge difference not just for the environment, but in helping those in need too!
