As we kick off the new year, it is timely to look back at some of the highlights of 2017 for our readers. From the successful launch of Seaside Residences to being recognised by the industry for our quality work, here are some of the most popular articles from 2017.
1. Rejuvenating the East Coast with Seaside Residences
The Seaside Residences was launched in April 2017, and was very well-received by the market. The first new seafront development in the East Coast in 15 years, Seaside Residences will rejuvenate the area with its thoughtful design, such as massive urban windows and lushly planted sky terraces. The first weekend of sales saw some 70% of the 560 released units sold, with buyers drawn to the rare seafront location, and the close proximity to East Coast Park and the upcoming Siglap MRT station. Seaside Residences was one of the best-selling Singapore development in 2017.
2. Growing through acquisitions
We expanded our foothold through strategic acquisitions both locally and abroad in 2017. In Singapore, we successfully edged out nine other bidders for a highly-contested plot of mixed commercial and residential site at Jiak Kim Street, the former site of popular nightspot Zouk. On the overseas front, Frasers Centrepoint Limited and Frasers Commercial Trust acquired Farnborough Business Park to expand its investment mandate to Europe.
3. Learning more about our Frasers family
The People with Passion series showcased a different side of our Frasers family members. Our people make Frasers, and the experiences of our staff and customers matter. These stories shed light on personal experiences, inspirations, and the daily work-lives of Frasers team-members – revealing a bit of what makes Frasers tick, as we strive to continually deliver real value to our customers.
Chen Fung Leng, an avid cyclist shared with us in Riding on our Passions, how his passion for cycling helps his work as Head of Investor Relations & Research at Frasers Centrepoint Asset Management (Manager of Frasers Centrepoint Trust).
Xu Peijuan, Manager of Group Leasing, shared with us the joy of starting a new family, and personal motivations that drive her both at work and home. She also gave us an insightful first person account of her experience at the Frasers orientation programme for new staff.
Two valued staff from our Causeway Point security team were featured in A tale of two security teams, as we learned about how they often go the extra mile to keep our shoppers happy and safe.
In Fuelling Construction with Sketchings and Bak Chor Mee, Chris Wu, Assistant General Manager of Projects, Development & Property who is currently overseeing the upcoming Frasers Tower shared with us his personal approach to tackling anything large-scale and his fondness for Bak Chor Mee.

4. Reliving our unique heritage
The Then & Now series celebrate the iconic locations of some of our Frasers developments. We went back in time to uncover the history of the communities and precincts where we have our properties and along the way, we uncovered lesser known facts about Singapore too!
Did you know: Anchorpoint’s iconic red pyramid roof used to function as a brew master’s office during the development’s past beer brewing days? Beer brewing used to be carried out at the brewery’s main plant where Anchorpoint Shopping Centre now stands. Bottled beer was then transported via a conveyor belt across an overhead bridge to the canning line, where IKEA now stands.
As part of the finishing touches to the mega-development Northpoint City, we invited our customers to a “Paint Party” where they creatively expressed what “Happiness” means to them on large panels, which are now part of the mall’s community mural wall. Did you also know that opening of Northpoint Shopping Centre, as it was known then, was a milestone for Yishun? It was one of the first major suburban malls located along the MRT line!
5. Achieving industry recognition
Frasers Centrepoint Singapore clinched a number of awards this year, and we appreciate the recognition of the hard work that our team members have put in.
Alexandra Point took home the Leadership in Design & Performance Award (Commercial) at the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC)-Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Sustainability Leadership Awards for its green and sustainable initiatives.
Frasers team members also did us proud at the SRA Service Excellence Awards, with 17 wins! Our people are fundamental in ensuring that we deliver positive experiences through stellar service.
Our Waterfront Collection made waves at the FIABCI Singapore Property Awards in 2016, and competed in the prestigious international real estate competition, FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence 2017, hosted in the Principality of Andorra in May 2017.
It has been a meaningful year for Frasers, and we want to thank our team members and our customers for being on this journey with us.
