A local farming experience
As we consider the environmental impact of our actions, it is also important to note the impact of agriculture on our environment. According to the World Wildlife Fund, unsustainable agricultural and aquaculture practices present the greatest immediate threat to species and ecosystems around the world.
When farming operations are sustainably managed, they can help preserve and restore critical habitats, protect watersheds, and improve soil health and water quality.
On 29 March, our Commercial Properties team visited the Kok Fah Technology Farm as part of Frasers Property Environment Month 2018 activity.
Spanning nine hectares in Sungei Tengah, the 30-year old Kok Fah Technology Farm currently operates seven plots and produces about 100 tonnes of leafy vegetables such as spinach and kailan monthly through a mix of soil cultivation and hydroponics. The vegetable farm also holds weekly farmer's market and tours for the public.

From vegetables to fruits, families from all over the island go to Kok Fah’s Weekend Market to pick up green groceries.
“I think this was a meaningful session for everyone, with lessons we can take home and share with our friends and families. I wouldn’t mind returning to get some fresh vegetables from their weekend market,” Vattery Val, Technical Officer, Frasers Tower said.
