Overcoming first-time jitters
Smartly dressed, with her hair neatly tied into a high bun, the sales administrator from Chengdu Logistics Park wore a big smile wherever she went during a whirlwind trip of Singapore.
As part of Frasers Property’s global Experience Ambassador programme, Liu Sha was keen to push herself out of her comfort zone, revealing that this was the first time she was travelling alone overseas. The experience ambassador from China was among those who were selected to immerse themselves in the cultures and operations of the various divisions, and share their experiences.

Team members from around the world were encouraged to apply for the roles of Experience Ambassadors. Six lucky ones were chosen to travel to either Bangkok, Shanghai, London, Melbourne, Sydney or Singapore.
Liu Sha recounted her joy when she heard that she was going to Singapore. She said, “To me, Singapore is one of the most important and prominent countries in the Frasers business. I wanted to explore and understand the country’s culture and values so that I can take back what I learnt here and bring greater value to my work in China.”
Developing new friendships and palates
Visiting Singapore was treading unchartered waters, but Liu Sha is grateful for the warmth and kindness of her Singaporean colleagues who extended their hospitality to her. She said, “My friends in Frasers Property Singapore are so friendly and hospitable! Even though I travelled to Singapore on my own, I didn’t feel lonely.”
Alongside great company, she indulged in the foodie culture that Singapore is well-known for. She added, “I have been eating non-stop since my arrival in Singapore because my colleagues here were excited to share about their cuisine! My favourite dish is the chili crab. I also enjoyed the ice cream sandwiched in between bread from the ice cream uncle along Orchard Road. It is so sinful but so yummy! Initially, I was hesitant to try out new types of food but I started to enjoy the Indian and Indonesian foods as well!”

When asked what else impressed her during her visit, Liu Sha exclaimed, “It’ll definitely be how clean this city is! I hardly see any litter and this city is peppered with lush, green trees. I tried taking photos of the beautiful trees, but the photos that my hand phone camera takes do not do justice to the greenery.”
After days of consuming a plethora of local delights, the avid runner still found time for a nine-kilometre night run around the scenic Marina Bay Sands. She sang praises of the glittery night views that greeted her during the run. “After the hearty meals, the run was a good way to help me truly explore and immerse myself in the city. Singapore is also incredibly beautiful at night,” Liu Sha added.
Learning away from home
Having worked at Frasers Property for seven years, Liu Sha was grateful for the opportunity to visit Singapore and learn. She explained, “My itinerary has been jam-packed with things to do and see. Every moment is a learning opportunity for me. Now that my horizon has been broadened, whenever I face a problem or difficulty at work back home in Chengdu, I will be reminded of my time here and try to incorporate what I have learnt in Singapore to solve my problem.”

Liu Sha is also a firm believer of travelling to enrich one’s perspectives and this trip has been a fruitful one. She said,“As they say, ‘The world is a book and those who do not travel only read one page.’ The farthest I’ve been to is Langkawi, Malaysia, so this trip to Singapore has broadened my horizons indeed!”
When asked if she would pay Singapore a visit in the future, she beamed brightly, “I will bring my parents along and show them how much I enjoyed myself.”
