Jufri was a proud father as his children received the Frasers Centrepoint Bursary Awards.
In true embodiment of the “Frasers spirit” of resilience, 14 year-old Raziq Haikal Bin Ridzawi, overcame learning difficulties from a young age and displayed marked improvements in his studies year on year.
Along with his siblings Llyane Syafiqah Bte Ridzawi and Raziq Aiden Bin Ridzawi, Haikal was recognised for displaying exemplary academic performance in school, at the 4th Frasers Centrepoint Bursary Award Ceremony.
The bursaries are part of Frasers Centrepoint Singapore’s continuous commitment to enrich the lives of our colleagues and their families. The award ceremony, held on 15 December at Alexandra Point, saw a total of 75 students receiving the awards. This year, additional incentives were introduced for children who showed improvement in their subjects.
Guest-of-Honour, Mr Panote Sirivadhanabhakdi, Group CEO, Frasers Centrepoint Limited, congratulated the award recipients at the presentation ceremony, “At Frasers, we believe that the experience of our staff and our families matter. We strive to achieve staff well-being, support family bonding and enhance our employees’ work experiences. The Frasers Centrepoint Bursary Award was introduced four years ago to help take care of our staff and their families.”
Families were on hand to support the young awardees as they received the bursary awards.
It was an occasion of immense pride for Mohamed Jufri Bin Sarjo, a Frasers Centrepoint Singapore employee, as he shared what his children’s achievements meant to the family.
“This bursary holds special meaning for all of us, and especially so for Haikal. He was diagnosed with dyslexia and it has always been a struggle for him academically, so this added incentive gives him an extra morale boost to keep improving”, says Jufri. Haikal received the added incentives for achieving improvement in four subjects, on top of the bursary award.
As an experienced member of the Valley Point team, the Senior Maintenance Technician is aware of what it takes to stay resilient to overcome any kind of crisis or disruption.
“On a day-to-day basis, my job scope includes assisting the Building Executive with overseeing the maintenance of the building. Being with the company for 20 years has taught me that we will always find solutions to the different kinds of obstacles we face. We just need to persevere and adapt to our challenges.”

Having to adapt to Haikal’s steep learning curve, the family has taken steps to ensure a conducive environment at home for all the children. The Hougang Secondary School student receives assistance in his schoolwork with guidance from an Allied Educator (Learning & Behavioural Support). On top of learning at home and in school, Haikal also attends lessons at the Dyslexic Association Singapore on Thursdays.
The hard work has certainly paid off for Haikal. He says, “I am very happy and pleasantly surprised as I was not expecting to attain the award for three years in a row. I am thankful for the help that I received. As I will be in Secondary 3 next year, I am motivated to work harder and make everyone proud.”
The awards were given out to 75 children of 23 Frasers Centrepoint employees altogether.
