Keeping efficient and collaborative with technology
Our upcoming integrated development, Northpoint City, bagged the GoldPLUS award for the Project Category at the BCA Building Information Modelling (BIM) Awards held on 24 October.
(Standing fifth from left) Lee Choon Li, General Manager, Projects, Development and Property who received the award on behalf of the team.
The Project Category of the awards gives recognition to projects that use key technology to improve productivity and integration of various disciplines across the construction value chain.
At Northpoint City, we piloted the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC). BIM creates 3D building data that enables us to collaborate better with multiple stakeholders (i.e. developer, designer, architects and contractors) while enabling greater efficiency in project management during the development stage.
When used appropriately, BIM can increase productivity, lessen abortive works and reduce construction time and cost by 15%! With the success of BIM demonstrated in its pilot phase, Frasers Centrepoint will continue to champion BIM and VDC for future projects.
