YewTee Point starts off the year of the rooster by spreading joy to those in need by partnering with shoppers to donate a total of 800kg of rice, equivalent to about 12,800 bowls of rice, to Shan You Counselling Centre.
Stephanie Ho, General Manager, Retail Properties, presents a symbolic rice bucket to Shan You Wellness Centre.
The meaningful Rice Bucket Giveaway was a charity initiative that encouraged shoppers to take home a “Prosperous Rice Bucket”, worth $28 and containing 1kg of SongHe Thai Fragrant Rice each, when they spent $88 at the mall on 8, 15 or 22 January 2017.
For every rice bucket redeemed, YewTee Point donated 2kg worth of rice to Shan You Counselling Centre, a non-profit Voluntary Welfare Organisation that serves daily meals to the vulnerable elderly and those at risk of not having daily meals in Singapore.
“Chinese New Year is a time when families come together to usher in an abundance of happiness for the coming year. Families have always been our focus and as always, we look for ways to extend the festivities to those in our communities who may not be as fortunate as the rest of us. With our Rice Bucket event at YewTee Point, we are bringing the celebration of life and health to the elderly, and hope our patrons will be encouraged to do the same,” said Ms. Stephanie Ho, General Manager, Retail Properties.
The chance to win part of $5,000 worth of mystery gifts, hampers, Frasers Centrepoint Malls Gift Cards and retailer vouchers in YewTee Point’s Sure-Win Lucky Dip further encouraged shoppers to make a $2 donation.
