As Dr Chew and Soo Hua passed through the crowds in the busy retail mall, he shared that Frasers Centrepoint Trust's has shown promising progress and pointed out why he thinks a suburban mall like Causeway Point may have an edge over others in the current competitive retail landscape.
Suburban shopping malls, such as the six under Frasers Centrepoint Trust’s portfolio namely, Anchorpoint, Bedok Point, Causeway Point, Changi City Point, Northpoint City and Yew Tee Point, leverage on their strategic locations and accessibility to differentiate themselves from competition.
In 2016, the total footfall of these six malls exceeded 100 million for the first time in history. Causeway Point remains one of the best performing assets and key growth driver in Frasers Centrepoint Trust’s portfolio. Frasers Centrepoint Trust’s total assets are valued at about $2.6 billion.
Given this advantage that Frasers Centrepoint Trust’s malls have, the Trust chooses to maintain its focus on the suburban retail sector, which Dr Chew feels still harbours potential for future growth.

It is not all business and no play for Dr Chew as he strives to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle. During his spare time, he indulges in one of his all-time favourite sports, table tennis. Dr Chew said that playing sports in general serves to remind him about the significance of teamwork, which is also crucial to success at work.
