Sometimes a little encouragement goes a long way to get into the swing of exercise. This Health and Safety month, staff from Frasers Centrepoint Singapore rallied colleagues and challenged ourselves to keep fit and active together! In support of our commitment to get more individuals to be physically active, staff are encouraged to clock in 10,000 steps a day.
Each accumulated step per day enables participants to earn points for rewards redemption and chances to qualify in a lucky draw. A maximum of 60 points can be earned per day with 10,000 steps clocked
Clocking additional steps every day is easier than you think! The distance of 10,000 steps is equivalent to approximately 8km, and helps burns about 500 calories.
Taking 10,000 steps or more daily is said to help lower blood pressure, blood cholesterol levels, and improve glucose control, which could decrease the risk of diabetes and other long-term illnesses.
Set on taking on the 10,000 steps challenge yourself? We sought out a few ways to integrate more walking into your everyday routine.
We heard that “buddying up” with a friend for your walks and jogs helps keep you motivated and accountable for your goals. Good company also makes for a fun and effortless journey towards your desired results!
Driving often to get to where you’re going? Start parking a little further from your destination (even if it is the lift lobby!) than you usually would so that you clock more steps into your daily routine. You would be surprised by how much that extra walk can help to lower stress levels!

Nurturing active lifestyle habits
Concern for health and safety is integral to our culture at Frasers Centrepoint Singapore. During this month, we take extra note of important safety and wellbeing concerns and practise what we have learnt through various wellness-advocating staff activities.
This year staff from Frasers Centrepoint Singapore continued to support The Frasers Global Running Challenge. The challenge saw participants clocking their runs in their own free time. For a shot at winning attractive prizes from Nike, Adidas, Sony and medals for the top runners’ category, participants submitted their accumulated mileage for the month of August, indicating the dates, distance and speed. Frasers Centrepoint Limited saw 114 staff from 11 countries participating in the challenge last year, clocking a combined distance of 4,139km.
Participants who signed up for the Walk-Jog @ Berlayer Creek! were all pumped up and ready to go!
Keeping fit does not have to be a lonely journey. Staff from Frasers Centrepoint Singapore joined a team of 50 fitness enthusiasts who took part in the Walk-Jog @ Berlayer Creek, another activity which saw individuals from different Frasers businesses participating. Said one runner, “The route was so scenic that it didn’t even feel as though the run was more than 5km.” Staff on the return route were encouraging others they passed by with “good job”, “you’re almost there” showing that the strength of the camaraderie and bonding spirit even extended outside of the office.
It was an exciting and fulfilling month where staff came together to take part and receive takeaways from various activities that promoted health and safety. It was all a good reminder that health and safety is core to our culture here at Frasers Centrepoint Singapore.
