Frasers Property GCEO Panote Sirivadhanabhakdi receives the 2022 Top CEO in Asia award.
Mr Sirivadhanabhakdi made the following acceptance speech at the 14 March 2023 awards ceremony:
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.
It is a privilege to be recognised as Asia’s Top CEO by Influential Brands and I am greatly humbled to be here with you today at the Asia CEO Summit and Award Ceremony.
I share this honour with our people who support and deliver for our customers and communities across the world, including our Leadership Team and the Board of Directors. It is a recognition of the tenacity and dedication of the entire Frasers Property team to achieve our shared goals.
This award has prompted me to reflect on my own growth and professional journey, as well as the progress we have achieved at Frasers Property. We’re not the same company we were seven years ago.
Frasers Property Australia’s Burwood Brickworks is the world’s most sustainable shopping centre having been awarded the Living Building Challenge® (LBC®) Petal Certification. We are the first organisation in the world to achieve this certification for a retail development.
Since taking on the role of Group CEO in 2016, Frasers Property has grown significantly in scale, with total assets increasing from S$24 billion to S$40.2 billion (as of 30 September 2022) to become a leading real estate multinational company operating across five asset classes.
We are also seeing growing interest from long term capital partners who want to pursue investment opportunities together with Frasers Property and our five REITs that are listed on the Singapore Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
For Frasers Property to thrive, we have to evolve and remain relevant in a rapidly changing world and have been focused on laying the foundation for a future-ready organisation.
We are building strategic business platforms with a sustainable competitive edge in the core markets and asset classes we are in. putting in place the capabilities that support how we play to win in asset value creation, capital management and customer centricity as we invest, develop and manage.
Our role as a developer is key in evolving city planning and rejuvenation of societies. For example, our involvement as joint developer for One Bangkok, the largest holistically integrated district in this city. I am excited by how this will elevate and redefine Bangkok’s global appeal much like how Hudson Yards has reinvigorated New York City.
As a CEO, I believe that leadership is about inspiring people to be their best selves and empowering them to achieve their full potential while supported by a great work environment with the right culture and values.
As leaders, we have a responsibility to use our positions of power and influence to create positive change in our communities. With a rapidly changing world, it requires us as leaders to adapt and evolve from the front.
One Bangkok, our upcoming fully-integrated district in the heart of Bangkok is envisioned to reshape and redefine Bangkok’s urban landscape in a positive and lasting way, setting new standards in terms of design, quality, connectivity and sustainability.
For us in real estate, it is a people business, and it is important the work we do serves a meaningful purpose. My purpose is to try to improve the overall quality of life for people around me and then to use the platform I have to make a positive difference in society.
Hence, at Frasers Property, we are guided by our Purpose – Inspiring experiences, creating places for good. Our Purpose requires us to maintain a long-term view to business. We strive to not only create lasting shared value for businesses, communities and planet, but also deliver inspiring experiences for all.
In today’s multi-stakeholder world, there is a need to actively collaborate with like-minded governments, organisations and groups to tackle specific challenges or opportunities for greater impact.
There is no better example than our partnerships model in our approach to sustainability.
We are committed to doing our part to drive the ESG agenda forward across our real estate value chain, to build a more resilient and sustainable business, whether it is building net-zero carbon homes, operating energy-efficient spaces across our property portfolio, or green-certifying our buildings.
With meaningful collaboration comes better sharing and learning which brings benefits to all parties, and I’m sure there are some of you in this room whom we are collaborating with for this purpose.
On that note, I want to take a moment to thank the judges and organisers of this award ceremony for providing a platform to highlight and elevate the value of brand and leadership.
Thank you once again for making this evening special with this award.
