Tamara Rasmussen of New South Wales has won the 2019 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) and Frasers Property National Women in Leadership Award for Excellence.

The award, which was presented last night at the UDIA National Congress on the Gold Cost, recognises women who show outstanding leadership qualities within the property industry.

Tamara, Regional Development Manager, Communities, Lendlease says she is thrilled to have won the award.

“I’m proud to represent the women of New South Wales and I am very humbled by the recognition,” she says.

Tamara has worked in property and development for two decades, including 15 years with Lendlease. She began her career as a community development manager before moving into a more customer focused role and says she climbed the property industry ladder by being open to new opportunities.

“I’ve always put my hand up for new challenges and luckily I have always been very well supported by managers who recognised my passion and enthusiasm for learning more,” Tamara says.

She says it’s imperative that women are not only recognised for their achievements but are also elevated into leadership roles.

“Awards like this make people consider the achievements of women. If young women don’t see other females in leadership positions then they can’t aspire to be in those positions themselves,” she says. 

“This award shows that there are great women in this industry doing great work, and it shows young graduates and younger staff that they will be recognised for doing a great job.”

Kesree Jones, General Manager – National Sales Programs, Frasers Property Australia presented Tamara with the award on the night.

“Tamara won this award because she goes above and beyond as a female leader. She works hard to develop her own skills as well as those of her colleagues and staff.

“Tamara and her fellow nominees are great examples of female leaders and their persistence to make their mark on the industry is admirable.”

Tamara, who won the 2018 UDIA NSW and Frasers Property Women in Leadership Award, was nominated alongside four other women across the country: Randah Jordan from Victoria, Vivienne Edwards from Western Australia, Rebecca Oelkers from Queensland and Nicole Turnbull from South Australia.
