  • Construction of pet-friendly Village Green underway

MELBOURNE, 1 JULY 2021

The major milestones keep coming at Burwood Brickworks with the first residents moving in March, construction on the new homes progressing well, and more residents coming soon to the masterplanned community by Frasers Property Australia.

Construction has recently completed on the Garden Apartments and over 260 new residents are now moving in.

From day one of their new lives, these residents will enjoy the exclusive resident-only BBQ facilities and garden area within the buildings, the convenience of the fully-operational Burwood Brickworks Shopping Centre and Eat Street on their doorstep, as well as the recently opened Urban Plaza, with more parks and outdoor spaces emerging in the year ahead.

Sarah Bloom, General Manager Development Victoria, Frasers Property Australia says the completion of the new community amenities is great news for new residents.

“With the Urban Plaza recently open to the community, new residents can enjoy the convenience of living close to a shopping centre as well as the outdoor amenities such as paved open spaces, sheltered alcoves, shaded walkways and plenty of grassy mounds perfect for relaxing and socialising safely,” Ms Bloom says.

“The Burwood Brickworks community is certainly taking shape and we are thrilled with the on-site progression. A big congratulations to all the teams involved in achieving these milestones,” she says.

To celebrate the first residents of the four apartment buildings moving in, a Meet Your Neighbours event was held on Saturday 22 May at Acre Farm and Eatery at Burwood Brickworks Shopping Centre. Over 200 residents attended the event and enjoyed a fun-filled day with door prizes to win and live performances by harpist, jazz trio, silk fan dancers and more.

Ms Bloom says the meet your neighbour event was part of the company’s commitment to create communities which are not just environmentally, but also socially, sustainable.

“Moving into a new community means forming new connections, so we’d like to give our residents an opportunity to get to know their neighbours and build those bonds,” she says.

Four apartment buildings have been completed to date at Burwood Brickworks, comprising 267 residences in total, and constructed by Hacer Group. These first-release apartments have proven extremely popular and have attracted a cross-section of buyers — from first-home buyers to empty-nesters, families and investors.

While the new residents of the apartment buildings settle in, work is continuing at great pace, despite the COVID interruptions of 2020. Construction of the medium density townhomes is well-progressed on site.

There are five different town home precincts within the new community. Homes in the Foundation Home precinct are near completion, with first settlements likely to occur in August. Elsewhere in the community, construction of the pet-friendly Village Green has recently commenced and is due for full completion by the end of the year. Comprising one hectare of open space, the landscaped park and wetlands is the perfect outdoor zone for social gatherings and joining in the free Live Life Get Active fitness classes.

Ms Bloom says Live Life Get Active has been a huge success since the classes started in mid-May with many of the new residents joining in.

“With plenty of classes to choose from, such as cross training and boxing, we’ve seen people not just improve their health but also make new friends and increase their social circle. It’s delightful to see how everyone encourages each other to turn up too,” she says.

Wendy Welsh moved into her brand-new apartment in March this year.

“I lived in Burwood East when my children were younger so the life-long friends I made during that period all live around here. I had already decided I wanted to move back to the area but wasn’t planning to purchase anything just yet,” says Wendy.

“I’m a tram driver so I see lots of developments and properties for sale as I drive past and when I saw this one I thought I might be able to afford that!”

“Now I live in a lovely two-bedroom apartment with two balconies, a shopping centre next door and five of my oldest friends living just up the road,” Wendy says.

“The shopping centre is so convenient, the food’s good and I’m already on first name terms with some of the shop owners and the tavern.

“I’m looking forward to making many more friends in my new neighbourhood in the years ahead,” she says.
