Wyndham City Mayor Adele Hegedich hailed the opening of the Davis Creek footbridge in December last year as a boon for The Grove community and district.
“It is important for our community to have a strong shared path network, and this new pedestrian bridge provides Tarneit locals with a much-needed link across Davis Creek between The Grove community and broader Tarneit,” Cr Hegedich says.
The footbridge, which crosses Davis Creek at Cuttlefish Circuit and connects with the shared path adjacent to Wootten Road Reserve on the eastern side of the creek, is ideal for pedestrians and cyclists and will become an important community link.
“We know that providing easier access for current residents of The Grove into Tarneit is especially important, so the opening of the footbridge is a welcome addition to everyone in the community,” says Sarah Bloom, General Manager Development Victoria, Frasers Property Australia.
“The footbridge will link with kilometres of walking and cycle paths throughout The Grove community, meaning easy access for bike and pedestrian travel to nearby schools, shops and other amenities, and contributing to the overall health and wellbeing for the community.”
Bounded by Davis Creek and Werribee River, the masterplan for The Grove includes interconnected cycling and walking paths. The paths will link the waterways to outdoor parks and play spaces, a future town centre, schools and community facilities, as well as provide an important link across Davis Creek and into the wider Tarneit community.
Future plans at The Grove are expected to include a town centre with retail precinct, proposed primary and secondary schools, neighbourhood activity centre and sporting oval —all connected to the community’s parklands, wetlands and waterways.
The community is already well-established at The Grove with more than 1200 land lots sold and new residents settled in. There are currently a range of land lots available for sale at The Grove, with prices starting from $279,500.
“More and more people are discovering how special The Grove is, and we have many options for buyers of all types. Many have been attracted by the location and the appeal of living between two waterways,” Ms Bloom says.
“Our expansive wetlands area – spanning 11 hectares of open space – will be a big drawcard for families. Two sections have already been completed and it will be wonderful to see further construction commence later this year on what will be a real asset to this community.”
The new wetlands system at The Grove will create a thriving ecosystem for local bird and frog species, while providing picturesque open space for people of all ages to enjoy. It combines 75,000 plants and breathtaking landscape design to transform a section of the community into scenic play and picnic spaces, while enhancing the ecological footprint of the surrounding river environments around Tarneit.
