MELBOURNE, 2 JUNE 2020
The restaurant which gives new meaning to sustainable fresh dining, acre Farm & Eatery, will again welcome customers to its urban farm setting at Burwood Brickworks when it re-opens its doors on Friday 5 June. Bookings can be made now, via the website acrefarmeatery.com.au.
Initially, acre Farm & Eatery will seat a capacity of 20 people in line with Victorian Government restrictions, although the operators will evaluate opportunities to safely welcome additional diners at the appropriate time.
Eric Park, Burwood Brickworks Centre Manager, says the rooftop urban farm and its beautiful restaurant are central to the Burwood Brickworks experience.
“These community assets give the centre its unique identity, and we can’t wait until acre Farm & Eatery re-opens to offer people a dining experience unlike anything else in the country,” says Mr Park.
“acre Farm & Eatery has quickly established a position as one of Melbourne’s most memorable restaurants. People can look through the window and see the same ingredients being lovingly used in the kitchen. Whatever’s in season is reflected in the menu. The team at acre have set a new benchmark for an environmentally-friendly, socially-conscious and ultimately delicious restaurant experience.”
When the doors re-open on 5 June, diners can expect a set menu ripe with fresh seasonal vegetables straight from the farm beds alongside quality local produce, including Cape Grim Brisket and Rockling from Lakes Entrance.
The acre team has been eagerly awaiting the re-opening of the farmhouse doors and to welcome the local community back up to the rooftop. Farm Manager Nick Browning has been busy planting for the new season, so people can expect to see vibrant beds full of rainbow chard, broccoli and kale.
While the restaurant has been closed, the urban farm has consistently produced fresh, quality fruit and vegetables, and a partnership between Burwood Brickworks, acre Farm & Eatery and Crossway LifeCare has ensured that produce has been donated to people in need.
As well as acre Farm & Eatery, currently open to the community at Burwood Brickworks are Woolworths, Dan Murphy’s, Choice Pharmacy, Cannings Butcher, Hu Hui Asian Grocer, The Source Bulk Foods, Insight Early Learning, My Place Massage, MaxiCare Beauty Secrets, Glossed Nails & Beauty, Eye Trend, Concierge Carwash, Botaniculture, Biome, Better Home, iHub, Bhumi, Norwood Café, Hot Hot Pot, My Sushi, Ben & Jerry’s and Burwood Brickworks Medical Centre.
Opening soon are Ichiro Izakaya Bar on 8 June, Gotcha Fresh Tea on 12 June, and Gami Chicken & Beer on 6 July.
