SYDNEY, 6 JUNE 2019

The latest in the series of community information evenings coordinated by the joint developers of Shell Cove, Shellharbour City Council and Frasers Property Australia, was held last night. Residents, locals and members of the business community were updated on progress in the new community, which is fast taking shape.

As well an update on the construction program, attendees were provided details of the three development approvals recently received for new infrastructure works: the marina carpark; tavern; foreshore public domain and waterfront dining precinct.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the construction program was at an exciting stage, with the progression of these four key pieces of infrastructure marking another significant step forward.

“There has always been particular excitement around the tavern and waterfront dining precinct, so it was excellent to be able to discuss these key elements of the project in more detail with our community,” Cr Saliba said.

“The Stage 3 Retail part of the project is now underway, and we will continue to provide regular updates as work progresses,” Cr Saliba said.

Glenn Colquhoun, Development Director – Shell Cove, Frasers Property Australia says with these approvals now in place, the team is working toward the opening of the marina in 2021.

“The tavern will be a key contributor to the vibrant atmosphere being created on the waterfront, complementing the new food and beverage precinct which will draw visitors from near and far, while the carpark will provide important access for the many people looking forward to using the world-class marina.

“With these approvals now secured and the breakwall nearly complete, construction is progressing full steam ahead, we anticipate the new marina will be open to the public around the middle of 2021.

“It’s important to keep the community updated on the project on a regular basis throughout the construction program and we’re grateful that people came along again last night. After all, it’s their community, and we want people to take a real interest in everything that’s happening at the moment,” he says.

Elsewhere at Shell Cove, construction of the next stage of The Waterfront Town Centre commenced this week, which will see the addition of three-to-five new tenancies opposite Shell Cove Dental, Bliss Ice-Cream and The Waterfront Sales and Information Centre.

Also coming up this month at Shell Cove is the inaugural Re:New Festival, an eight-day festival featuring
hands-on workshops, seminars and fun activities to educate people about the simple changes they can make to live more sustainable lives.

The festival will take place at various locations within The Waterfront Town Centre and nearby Bass Point from June 29 to July 6, with details on what’s planned here: www.renewfestival.com.au.

The Waterfront, Shell Cove is a masterplanned community in a natural coastal setting surrounded by beaches, parks and wetlands but close to schools, transport and major centres.

A focal point will be the 270-berth boat harbour and Shellharbour Marina next to the lively town centre featuring a retail precinct anchored by a Woolworths supermarket, with specialty shops and restaurants on the marina’s edge. There will also be a waterfront tavern, hotel, children’s beach, water play areas, library and community centre.

The Shell Cove Sales and Information Centre is located in The Waterfront Town Centre at Shops 1 and 2, 100 Cove Boulevard, Shell Cove. It is open seven days from 10.30am to 5pm. Call 13 38 38 or visit www.thewaterfrontshellcove.com.au for more information.
