Finding an affordable family-sized home in Sydney that is close to a bustling CBD and public transport, with immediate access to green open spaces and promising lifestyle opportunities is no easy task. But families can get all that and more at Frasers Property Australia’s Fairwater community at Blacktown.
The four-bedroom houses at Fairwater are proving popular with buyers who are looking for extra space but want to avoid the maintenance that comes with older homes or big backyards.
And with a starting price of $818,000, it is easy to understand why families are flocking to Fairwater.
Erin and Mike Stokes had almost given up hope of finding an affordable family-sized home to buy when they heard about Fairwater.
The couple had been renting in Leichhardt and Five Dock for more than a decade and knew their budget of about $725,000 would only stretch to an older two-bedroom apartment in that area and not the family home they craved.
“It had come time to buy something, but we knew all we could afford in the Inner West was a rundown unit,” says Erin.
“A workmate mentioned Fairwater. He had bought properties in other Frasers Property developments. We were quite comfortable going with Frasers Property because we knew it was a reputable company.”
Fairwater offered everything on their wish list: close to a train station, a family-friendly community and a brand-new home without the hassle of building.
After researching online, they travelled to the Fairwater Display Village and Sales Centre in March 2017.
“As soon as we drove in, I saw the lake and park and I just knew it was a nice place. It was like we had entered another world. Even though the homes we had come to see were not built yet, you could see how it was going to come together,” Erin says.
The couple paid $750,000 for a three-bedroom house overlooking the community’s lake, which features a garage, separate study, 2.5 bathrooms, two balconies, large undercover alfresco area and a backyard that led directly to the boardwalk surrounding the lake.
“We got a brand-new home without having to do any of the work of choosing door knobs and toilets and things. Frasers Property did a really good job with all the finishes,” says Erin.
Having moved in mid-2018, Erin says they couldn’t be happier with their choice.
“I grew up in the Inner West, around Concord and Five Dock, and I never imagined living at Blacktown, but it is really beautiful here,” says Erin.
On weekends, they take daughter Piper, four, to explore the community.
“For us, being from the Inner West, having an onsite café has been amazing. We can pop in on Saturday and Sunday mornings before we take Piper to ballet or swimming lessons, and the learn-to-ride bike track has been great for Piper to ride her scooter,” says Erin.
“Blacktown Showground is just a short walk away and in summer Blacktown Council sets up a water park there, which she loves. The showground also hosted a mini Easter show this year and we can walk to Westpoint shopping centre from here.
“Featherdale Wildlife Park is close by. Raging Waters Sydney (formerly Wet ‘n’ Wild) is a short drive away and the new Sydney Zoo will be 10 minutes away when it opens.”
Fairwater’s location just 1 kilometre from Blacktown train station has also meant a faster commute to work.
“It’s actually quicker for us both to get to work now than before,” says Erin. “On the days I go straight to work at Barangaroo, I can be door-to-door in 55 minutes. Mike works at the airport so it takes him about 90 minutes, but that is still quicker than before because he can catch trains now instead of buses.”
Erin has immersed herself in the Fairwater community, helping to organise last year’s Halloween event, as well as an Easter egg hunt and a trivia night, and she is relishing the strong sense of community.
“One of our neighbours organised someone to wash their windows and got them to come and wash our windows,” she says, adding another neighbour cared for their cat for two weeks while they were overseas.
“Everyone has been lovely. It really has been amazing, and we couldn’t be happier.”
Dino Carulli, Sales & Marketing Director – Residential NSW, Frasers Property Australia says Fairwater offers choice for people looking for a large family home at an affordable price that’s ready to move into or can buy off the plan giving them more time to plan their move.
“There’s a variety of larger family-sized homes with outdoor entertaining areas and backyards that will not eat up the weekend on maintenance. It’s ideal for those people who want a large home as well as the convenience of living near shops and public transport,” he says.
“The four-bedroom homes at Fairwater are large enough for the whole family and offer multiple living areas to spread out and enjoy their own space when they wish, but also gather in the large open plan living area or undercover alfresco.”
Among the four-bedroom homes now for sale at Fairwater are the completed and ready to move in contemporary-style Haven houses priced at $849,000. Downstairs is the fourth bedroom, full bathroom, laundry and spacious open plan living/dining/kitchen which leads to a large undercover alfresco area and
landscaped backyard.
Upstairs is a large kids’ retreat, main bathroom with freestanding bath and three bedrooms, including the spacious master bedroom suite with dual vanity ensuite, walk-in wardrobe and balcony.
The homes feature freestanding double garages located at the rear of the block.
There’s also a variety of off the plan four-bedroom home designs for sale, priced between $818,000 and $1,044,000, including a freestanding Garden house featuring a downstairs retreat/movie room and a large open plan living/dining/kitchen overlooking the 19 sqm undercover alfresco. All the four-bedroom homes
feature double garages.
