The annual Health and Safety month has returned with a line-up of events to spotlight the importance of workplace health and safety at Frasers Property Singapore.
Foundation to a happy life
The month kicked off with a “What’s Happiness Got To Do With It” workshop. Research has shown that happiness is linked to productivity. But what does it mean to be “happy” in the workplace?
Isabel sharing how participants can create high-performance workplaces where they can flourish.
Led by Isabel Vadivu Govdind, a licensed Science of Happiness at Work practitioner, the workshop shared what researchers and leaders have discovered about happiness and its impact on the workplace.
Participants engaged in some games and activities to pique their interest in the topics.
Everyone left the workshop visibly happier!
One of the most positive ways to reduce stress and promote happiness is through exercise. Increasing your physical activity can do wonders for your health and walking is the easiest, most natural movement.
Another popular activity during the Health and Safety month was the Walk-Jog@Berlayer Creek. Over 30 fitness enthusiasts from our different business units came together for this activity.
“I loved the scenic route along the track and enjoyed the run after a long day at work. It was also encouraging to see everyone motivating each other along the way!” said Chew Chiu Shan, Chief Financial Officer, Frasers Property Singapore.
Participants all set and ready to go.
Participants enjoyed a relaxing walk and took in sights of the beautiful Berlayer Creek
Eating right
An important part of leading a healthy lifestyle is getting the right amount of nutrition in our bodies. In today’s fast-paced society, dining out is commonplace. While we cannot control the ingredients that goes into our meals, we can actively choose to consume healthier meals.
Participants on this hawker trail started on a quest to Eat Healthier @ Alexandra Village to find out how they can identify healthier options in hawker centres. They learned more about which food items are high in cholesterol, saturated fats, and trans-fats by filling up questionnaires and identifying healthier food options from different stalls.
Healthy food restaurant, YOLO, showed us that eating healthy can taste good and can also be fun when you order from their customizable menu of low-sodium, low-carbs and protein-rich food.
Their recipes are accredited by their in-house nutritionist catered to help individuals #EATYOURGOALS: Shape up, Energise, Glow and Build.
Participants from “Watch and Eat with your Colleagues” enjoyed their lunch from YOLO, accompanied by a movie screening of a film titled Hungry For Change. The documentary exposes shocking secrets of the diet, weight loss and food industry and shared with viewers the right way to practice a healthy, lifelong diet.
Breathe easy
A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body. An increasing number of studies show that mindfulness meditation can help ease stress and anxiety, and that yoga’s combination of slow movement and conscious breathing calms the nervous system.
A Yoga, Meditation and Reflection Workshop was held to teach staff some basic yoga poses and meditation they can practice at home.
The workshop was held by The Breathe Movement, a social organisation that seeks to increase the emotional and mental resiliency of individuals through the practice and philosophies of yoga.
As we wrap up this month of activities, the team at Frasers Property Singapore will continue to remind and encourage one another on the importance of our health and safety throughout the rest of the year!
